Host Free-I collected us in the mountains and delivered us to cabins, one for us and one for our son. The cabins are situated in lovely sloping gardens with a view overlooking the bay. Reasonably priced dinners are available nightly on a deck with a view, with stimulating discussions with other guests from diverse nations and with Free-I who joins the party after dinner. Reach Falls only a few km away features a guided two-hour climbing/swimming adventure getting to the falls. I recommend going early before the Falls open to have the excursion to yourself, and if you can get the guide Leonardo, he’s particularly excellent. Another nearby activity is the Ecclesdown Road just 9 kms away well-known to birding enthusiasts. It can be either walked, or to cover more ground hire a taxi for a few hours. Free-I was extremely helpful arranging transfers for us on both ends of our stay. Two things to note: the beach is fine for swimming but is more rocky than sandy (although there’s a nice grassy area), and although the property is fenced, the fence is not very high—as everywhere in Jamaica common sense vigilance is called for in keeping rooms locked and valuables secured.
